It’s Official: Cherry Blossom Festival Announces The Street Party Is Back!
Me And Molly, Chuck Leavell with the Randall Bramblett Band, JD McPherson and Mavis Staples all confirmed for April 1 street party!
Cherry Blossom Festival season is officially in full swing after a press conference at Travis Jean highlighting what will be offered at this year’s event. This year’s Cherry Blossom Festival Opening Ceremony will take place at noon on Friday, March 24 at Central City Park. There is now an official Cherry Blossom Festival gift shop at Travis Jean where the well known Cherry Blossom pins are now for sale for $5 each as well as any other merchandise one can ask for. This year’s Cherry Blossom pin was designed by Mark Ballard, who also designed the festival’s 25th anniversary pin. With a motto of “Love, Beauty and International Friendship,” Board Chair Stacy Ingram and Festival Chair Don Bailey also announced that this year’s featured nation will be Japan. The annual Military Appreciation Day will take place on Monday, March 27 where military personnel are admitted free with their military ID. It was also announced that this year’s festival will feature over $100,000 worth of free entertainment and that the street party will be coming back on Saturday, April 1. The street party will feature music sensations Me And Molly, Chuck Leavell with the Randall Bramblett Band, JD McPherson and Mavis Staples.
